Senvion launches 2-MW turbine series in India

April 20 – German wind turbine maker Senvion SA (ETR:SEN) today announced the launch in India of four turbine models in the 2-MW class, with start of production planned within 2017.

The four models, 2.4M110, 2.4M114, 2.3M120 and the 2.3M124, are immediately available for sale in the Asian country with installation in the later part of 2017, the company said. They will be presented at Windergy in New Delhi next week.

The products come from “a suitable acquisition made in summer 2016,” Senvion said. In August last year the German manufacturer agreed to acquire the nacelle plants, product portfolio, service operations and key client relationships of Baramati-based sector firm Kenersys India Pvt Ltd

Amit Kansal, managing director of Senvion India, said that the local wind power market is one of the fastest growing in the world. “With the new 2.XM products, Senvion meets the certification and the statutory rules and will Make-in-India to deliver high quality wind power solution and right LCoE,” Kansal added.

Senvion chief executive Juergen Geissinger said that further solutions and innovations will follow as the market demands in future.
