Introduction

Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaics convert light into electric current using the photoelectric effect.

Generation Details:

The details of generation of power from various solar parks and plants established in our country is accumulated and presented here for a ready reference.

Installed Capacity:

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has to perform time and again the process of identifying and allocating the potential and capacity for various solar plants to be installed in different states. The same has been presented here.

Gujarat Model:

In early 2009, Government of Gujarat had introduced their Solar policy the implementation of resulted in formation of Solar park in Gujarat. The Gujarat Solar Park is a cluster of districts which experience good amount of solar irradiation and have a potential of nearly 1000 MW. Since then many developers have settled themselves in this region and have achieved their set targets. The same is depicted here in for quick reference.

JNNSM:

Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission is a National solar initiative by Central Government to encourage the Solar energy sector and spread the awareness about the scope of renewable energy utilization to combat the power crises. This mission is a Phased document and has a distributed batch based performance evaluation system. The details of which are provide here.

Rooftop PV & Small Solar Power Generation Programme (RPSSGP):

In order to give a thrust to rooftop PV and other small solar power plants connected at distribution network at voltage levels below 33 kV envisaged under Phase I of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has launched a programme on generation based incentives.

Solar Potential:

The solar potential possessed by our county is mentioned here in brief.

Solar Tenders:

Various states have introduced their solar policies. Under these policies, a number of developers have placed their financial bids for the tenders to be made. A brief description about the policies and tenders of the states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan has been made in here.
