El Salvador awards 170 MW of solar, wind projects
El Savador awarded on Wednesday 169.9 MW of solar and wind power supply contracts with a 20-year term, announced the National Energy Council (CNE).
The prices for solar power ranged from USD 49.55 (EUR 46.53) per MWh to USD 67.24 per MWh, a lot less than the ceiling price of USD 113.24/MWh. Wind power was sold at USD 98.78/MWh compared to a ceiling price of USD 105.30/MWh.
Solar power was the biggest seller with 119.9 MW in four projects. One wind project with a capacity of 50 MW won a contract as well.

Once completed, the plants will be able to meet the annual demand of 288,830 local households.
The results will now be sent to the Bid Evaluation Committee of the Superintendence of Electricity and Telecommunications (SIGET) for review and approval. The contracts between the government and the companies should be signed no later than March 27, 2017, CNE noted.
